The Mediating Role of Communication Skills in the Effect of Self-Efficiency on Problem-Solving: A Research on Tourist Guides
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the mediating role of communication skills in the effect of tourist guides' self-efficacy on problem solving skills. Previously developed scales were used to measure tourist guides' self-efficacy, communication skills and problem-solving skills. In this study, convenience sampling method was used as sample management. In this context, a survey was conducted on the active tourist guides affiliated to the Aydın Guides Chamber. Of the 315 returned questionnaires, 300 questionnaires were considered suitable for data analysis. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the mediating effect of communication skill on the effect of self-efficacy on the confidence dimension on problem solving skills was low, while the effect of communication skills on the effect of self-efficacy on approach-avoidance and personal control dimensions was moderate. As a result of these findings, it was determined that communication skills mediated the effect of self-efficacy on problem solving skills.
