Examining Improvisation and Micro Structure As Metaphors Seen in Frederick Rzewski’s ‘The People United Will Never Be Defeated ’ and ‘Les Moutons De Panurge’ Frederic Rzewski's two remarkable piano works, The People United Will Never Be Defeated and Les Moutons de Panurge are extraordinary in terms of the new perspectives they introduce to 20th century piano music through innovation in form and concept. Offering two independent worlds, when procedures and conditions of these works are examined, common grounds stand out. These common properties, as well as the adverse structures of the two works are the main focus point of this document
