The silver economy is defined as an economic domain that includes inclusive products and services designed to meet the needs of the population aged 50 and over. The concept of the silver economy is gaining increasing attention as it seeks to address the challenges posed by an aging population. This study, conducted using a traditional literature review method, aims to assess the challenges and opportunities of an aging population and shed light on Turkey’s potential within the silver economy. The role of the elderly population as both consumers and labor force participants is compelling various sectors to adapt, leading to the emergence of new market opportunities. This review discusses the impacts of the silver economy in sectors such as healthcare, tourism, and caregiving, both globally and in Turkey. While challenges such as labor force contraction and increased demand for healthcare services are associated with the aging population, significant opportunities, including digitalization, entrepreneurship, and new business models, are also emerging. As Turkey continues to age rapidly, becoming an elderly society, sectors like social security and caregiving are under strain, yet the silver economy offers substantial opportunities for growth.
