Öz
Bu çalışmada sosyal, ekonomik ve mekânsal göstergeler kullanılarak; Türkiye’de hızlı kentleşen, nüfus yoğunluğu 180 kişi/km 2 ve üzerinde olan 10 ilin 2009-2014 yılları arasında kentleşme düzeyindeki değişim tespit edilmiştir. Kentleşme kompozit indeksi; seçilen sosyal, ekonomik ve mekânsal göstergelerle, bilgi entropisi ağırlıklandırma metodu kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır. Bulgular çalışmanın kapsadığı yıllar içinde Zonguldak hariç tüm illerde farklı hızlarda kentleşmenin artış eğiliminde olduğunu göstermiştir. Ekonomik kentleşme açısından 2009-2014 yılları arasında Yalova ve Gaziantep’in diğer illere göre daha hızlı bir kentleşme gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Kentleşmenin çalışmanın kapsadığı yıllar içindeki artış eğilimi ileride kentleşme özelinde sorunların Türkiye genelinde daha fazla artacağına işaret etmektedir.

Öz
This study determined the change in urbanization index of 10 fast urbanizing cities with population densities of more than 180 capita/km 2 for the time period between 2009 and 2014. The urbanization index was estimated using information entropy weighting method using selected social, economic and spatial indicators. Findings indicate high rates of urbanization in all cities during the time period except the city of Zonguldak. Yalova and Gaziantep were identified as cities with higher rates of economic urbanization compared to other cities. High rates of urbanization during the time period 2009-2014 indicate urbanization specific issues in Turkey will increase in the future.
