Understanding afo Suistainable Development in Social Work: Conceptual Analysis

Abstract

The World Commission on Environment and
Development has been defined the term of sustainable
development as “sustainable development is
development that meets the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations
to meet their own needs” in its Common Future report,
1987. Sustainable development in terms of human is
social; in terms of community, it is economic and
cultural; in terms of environment, it is ecological. One
of the most important target of social work is improving
of quality of life and well-being of individuals and
families by developing their life conditions.Therefore it
is not rejected that social work’s role in supporting and
receiving of sustainable development.In this point, it
should indicate that social work how understands
sustainable development as both scientific and
profession area for evaluating contribution to
sustainability.
This study aims to explain a conceptual network
about sustianable development perspective in social
work. It explains economic development, social
development, ecological development/eco-social work
related to social work and sustainable development
principles.

Sosyal Hizmette Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Anlayışı: Kavramsal Analiz

Öz

Dünya Çevre ve Kalkınma Komisyonu (The World Commission on Environment and Development) 1987 yılında yayınladığı Ortak Geleceğimiz başlıklı raporda sürdürülebilir kalkınma kavramı “insanların mevcut ihtiyaçlarını, gelecek nesillerin ihtiyaçlarını karşılayabilecek kaynakların miktarını ve şeklini etkilemeden karşılaması olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Sürdürülebilir kalkınma, insan açısından düşünüldüğünde sosyal; toplum için düşünüldüğünde ekonomik ve kültürel; çevre için düşünüldüğünde ise ekolojik açıdan önemli hale gelmektedir. En önemli hedeflerinden biri bireylerin ve ailelerin yaşam koşullarında gelişme sağlayarak yaşam kalitesi ve refahı iyileştirmek olan sosyal hizmetin sürdürülebilirliğin desteklenmesi ve başarılmasındaki rolü yadsınamaz. Bu noktada sürdürülebilirliğe katkısının değerlendirilebilmesi için bilim ve meslek alanı olarak sosyal hizmetin sürdürülebilir kalkınma sürecini nasıl anladığı ortaya konulmalıdır.Bu çalışmada sosyal hizmette sürdürülebilir kalkınma anlayışına ilişkin kavramsal bir çerçeve ortaya konulması amaçlanmaktadır. Ekonomik kalkınma, ekolojik kalkınma/eko(lojik) sosyal hizmet ile sosyal kalkınma açısından sosyal hizmet ve sürdürülebilir açıklanmaktadır.kalkınmaya ilişkin esaslar
