Abstract

Socialization Process Effecting Technological Innovation Acceptance in old AgesIn the today’s society, the age becomes one of the important variables in our relationships with the technology. Although the current studies show that the technological innovation improves the independence and the prosperity of the elderly, it is found that they constitute the last group who assimilates the innovations in the products, services or the ideas compared to young adults. In the previous studies which are relevant to the duration of the socialization that achieves the personal development by sharing the personnel tendency of the knowledge, ability, attitude, and behavior with other people, it is seen that there are two types of explanatory variables named as the interaction with the socialization agents and structural variables, which affects the socialization directly or indirectly. In this study the influence of the socialization variables on the acceptance of the technological innovations during the old ages is investigated in a theoretical way and the several suggestions are proposed.

Yaşlılıkta Teknolojik Yeniliklerin Kabulünü Etkileyen Sosyalizasyon Süreci

Öz

Günümüz toplumlarında teknolojiyle olan ilişkilerimizde yaş, belirleyici bir faktör olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Yapılan çalışmalar teknolojik yeniliklerin yaşlıların bağımsızlıklarını ve refahlarını arttırdığını gösterse de gençlerle karşılaştırıldığında ürün, hizmet ya da düşünceyi içeren yenilikleri en son benimseyen grup olduklarını ortaya koymaktadır. Teknolojik yeniliklere uyum sağlama, bireysel bir karar olmakla birlikte hem bilişsel (farkındalık ve ilgi) hem de davranışsal (deneme ve kabullenme) aşamaları içerir. Bireyin sahip olduğu bilgi, beceri, tutum ve davranış eğilimlerini diğer insanlarla paylaşarak bireysel gelişimlerini sağladıkları sosyalizasyon sürecine ilişkin araştırmalarda, sosyalizasyon (toplumsallaştırma) ajanlarıyla etkileşim (aile üyeleri, kitle iletişim araçları, arkadaşlar, vs.) ve doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak sosyalizasyonu etkileyen yapısal değişkenler (gelir, eğitim düzeyi, meslek, ürüne yönelik ihtiyaç, vs.) olmak üzere iki tip açıklayıcı değişken kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sosyalizasyon değişkenlerinin yaşlılıkta teknolojik yeniliklerin kabulüne etkisi teorik açıdan ele alınacak ve bu özel ilgi grubunun ihtiyaçlarının karşılanması ve teknolojik yeniliklerin kabulünün attırılması için öneriler getirilmeye çalışılacaktır.
