Development of leadership behavior is considered to be an important factor for sports trainers in terms of their success in professional career. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of leadership behaviors among sports trainers in terms of various socio-demographic variables. In this study the descriptive survey model was utilized. The study was conducted among sports trainers working in individual and team sports(n=135). The %81,5 of the sports trainers were working in team sports. The data was obtained using “Leadership in Sports” scale and demographics information form. Both Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro Wilk tests were employed in order to test the normality of the data. Based on the results of normality tests, both parametric (Independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA) and non-parametric (Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H) were used in order to analyze the leadership behavior scores of sports trainers in terms of demographic variables. The results of the present study showed that, there were statistically significant differences in leadership behavior scores of sports trainers in terms of marital status, educational status, coaching behavior and age variables (p<.05). Furthermore, it was determined that the sports trainers in the age groups of 18-20 and 30-39 prefer “Democratic behavior” and the sports trainers with marital status as “single” prefer “Social support” behavior as compared to sports trainers with marital status as “married”. Finally it was determined that the leadership behaviors of sports trainers does not differ in terms of “sports branch” variable.
