The purpose of this study is to find the motivations of being active physically in 12-15 years old females and youngsters, and to identify the age differences. Female soccer players of related age, who attended the new project called ‘Girls on Field’ in 15-31 May of 2006, arranged by Physical Education, Sports and Scouting Department, approved by National Diractorate of Ministry of Ankara, have been participated in this study (age = 13.27±0.78). An inventory consisting of 30 items and 8 subclasses was used for data collection, and to examine which reasons are effective to participate in sports, called the Participation of Motivation Questionnaire (PMQ). The Cronbach Alpha internal consistancy coefficient was calculated as .90 for the reliability of the total scale. The data was explained with percent and frequency. One way anova was conducted to test the age differences in participation of motivation. P< 0.05 significance level was chosen for the statistical significance. According to the findings, the mean values for each item “improve my skills” , “learn new skills”, “being on a team”, “like to win”, “like the action” and “ to do something i am good at” were found as the most important reasons for the girls’ participation motivations of sports at this age. When evaluated in subclass level, the mean values scored in the PMQ’s subclass, were diverse to factors. The most important factors for the participated girls were “Activity/Being Active”, “Skill development”, “Team Affiliation/Team Spirit”. The least important factor is “Fitness/Energy Release”. There are no significant difference (p>0.05) related to age factor in participation of motivation at 12-13-14-15 years old females. As a result,it is found that the motives for girls’ attending to sports “to improve my skills”, “to develop new skills”, “to like the action” and “ to do something i am good at” internal factors are more important than the external factors
