In this study, it was aimed to investigate the
effect of physical appearance perfectionism and psychological well-being on
self-confidence in women participating in sportive recreational activities. In
the study; Physical Appearance Perfectionism Scale developed by Yang and
Stoeber (2012) and adapted into Turkish by Kolsallayan (2017) to measure
physical appearance perfectionism of participants, Psychological Well-Being
Scale developed by Diener et al (2009) and adapted into Turkish by Telef (2013)
to measure psychological well-being of participants and Self-Confidence Scale
developed by Akın (2007) to measure participants' self-confidence levels have
been used. For sample option, convenience sampling method and for data
collection face-to-face survey method was used. Pearson Correlation and
Regression Analysis was used by SPSS package program in the analysis of the
data obtained. A total of 210 women who participated in sport recreation
activities in Sakarya participated in the study voluntarily. When the findings
of the study were examined, it was seen that sub-dimensions of physical
appearance perfectionism and psychological well-being affected internal and
external self-confidence considerably in terms of statistics. As a result, it
has been found that self-confidence levels of women who feel well in physical
and psychological terms increase.
