The Effect of Tennis Training on Motor Skills of 7-11 Years Old Children

Öz

The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of tennis training on the motor skills of children aged 7-11 years. A total of 20 children, 11 males (age 8.55 ± 1.81 years; height 132.36 ± 11.40; weight 31.36 ± 8.14 kg) and 9 females (age 8.44 ± 1.59 years; height 132.11 ± 13.84; weight 33.22 ± 11.23 kg) voluntarily participated in the study. For 12 weeks, participants participated in tennis workouts designed with exercises covering flexibility, strength, agility, speed and balance. Hand grip test, vertical jump test, anaerobic power test, horizontal jump tests (single-double), balance test, flexibility test, 20-meter sprint test, T agility test, push-up test, sit-up test, shuttle test, plank test and squat test were performed to determine the motor skills of the individuals (before and after the intervention). The data obtained were analyzed in SPSS 25.0 package program. Normality of the data was tested with the Shapiro-Wilk test. In pre-post test comparisons, Paired Samples T-Test was used for parametric data and Wilcoxon tests were used for non-parametric data and tested at p<0.05 significance level. As a result of the study, it was found that tennis training in children aged 7-11 years did not have a significant effect on the balance parameters of the participants, while it had a significant effect on the hand grip (right), vertical jump, anaerobic power, two-foot horizontal jump, sprint, agility, push-up and sit-up parameters in both genders. In conclusion, tennis trainings contribute to the development of motor skills such as strength, anaerobic power, flexibility, speed and agility in children aged 7-11 years. We believe that the findings of research will contribute positively to the development of different and new perspectives in the development of sportive performance.

Tenis Antrenmanlarının 7-11 Yaş Çocukların Motor Becerilerine Etkisi

Öz

Araştırmanın amacı; tenis antrenmanlarının 7-11 yaş grubu çocukların motor becerilerine etkilerini incelemekti. 11’i erkek (yaş 8,55 ± 1,81; boy 132,36 ± 11,40; kilo 31,36 ± 8,14 kg), 9’u kız (yaş 8,44 ± 1,59; boy 132,11 ± 13,84; kilo 33,22 ± 11,23 kg) olmak üzere toplam 20 çocuğun araştırmaya gönüllü katılımı sağlandı. 12 hafta boyunca katılımcılar esneklik, kuvvet, çeviklik, sürat, denge yetilerini kapsayan egzersizlerle tasarlanmış tenis antrenmanlarına katılım sağladı. Bireylerin motor becerilerinin saptanması amacıyla (müdahaleden önce ve sonra) el kavrama testi, dikey sıçrama testi, anaerobik güç testi, yatay sıçrama testleri (tek-çift ayak), denge testi, esneklik testi, 20 metre sürat testi, T çeviklik testi, şınav testi, mekik testi, plank testi ve squat testi gerçekleştirildi. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 25.0 paket programında analiz edildi. Verilerin normalliği Shapiro-Wilk testi ile sınandı. Ön test-Son Test karşılaştırmalarında parametrik verilerde Paired Samples T-Test, non-parametrik verilerde ise Wilcoxon testleri kullanıldı ve p<0,05 anlamlılık düzeyinde sınandı. Araştırmanın sonucunda, 7-11 yaş grubu çocuklarda uygulanan tenis antrenmanlarının, katılımcıların denge parametrelerinde anlamlı bir etkisinin olmadığı, el kavrama (sağ), dikey sıçrama, anerobik güç, çift ayak yatay sıçrama, sürat, çeviklik, şınav ve mekik parametrelerinde ise her iki cinsiyette de anlamlı düzeyde etkisinin olduğu saptandı. Sonuç olarak, tenis antrenmanları, 7-11 yaş grubu çocukların kuvvet, anaerobik güç, esneklik, sürat, çeviklik gibi motor becerilerinin gelişimlerine katkı sağladı. Araştırmadaki bulguların konu ile ilgili yapılacak farklı çalışmalara zemin oluşturması, sportif performansın geliştirilmesinde farklı ve yeni bakış açıları geliştirebileceği yönünde olumlu katkı sağlayacağı kanaatindeyiz.
