CURRENT APPROACHES IN MINIMAL INVASIVE SURGERY

Yıl 2022, Cilt: 3 Sayı: 1, 79 - 104, 24.03.2022

In recent years, developments in energy, instrumentation and imaging methods have also
significantly improved minimally invasive surgery. In this process, surgical approaches, in a
way that will positively affect patient treatment and care; has evolved towards a number of
positive changes such as smaller scarring, less postoperative pain, better cosmetic results and
shorter recovery time.
From the past to the present, important developments in minimally invasive surgery include
single-incision laparoscopic surgery, transluminal endoscopic surgery from natural orifices,
video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery and robotic
surgery. The role of nursing treatment and care is very important in the success of these
surgical methods. However, it is seen that the resources related to nursing care for minimally
invasive surgery are limited in the literature. In the literature, it is understood that prospective
studies with a long follow-up period regarding minimally invasive surgical methods are
insufficient. The lack of cumulative data is particularly striking.
In this article, it is aimed to examine the important developments in minimally invasive surgery
in the light of the latest technologies from the past to the present and to present the current
nursing care with the literature data on the subject
