Culture is a fundamental element that shapes individuals’ beliefs, values, behaviors, and perceptions of health. Increasing global migration has brought cultural diversity to healthcare services. This diversity has heightened the importance of cultural awareness, sensitivity, and competence, particularly in reproductive health and midwifery care. This review aims to emphasize the importance of transcultural care by examining approaches to cultural differences in midwifery practice through the dimensions of religion, language, race, values, and norms. According to the literature, migrant women experience difficulties in accessing healthcare services due to language barriers, religious and cultural incongruities, racial prejudice, and variations in social norms, all of which negatively affect pregnancy and birth outcomes. It has also been observed that midwives have limited implementation of culturally sensitive care models, and spiritual care and cultural communication are not sufficiently integrated into practice. In conclusion, midwifery should adopt a holistic, equality-oriented, and culturally sensitive approach to care. Strengthening midwives’ cultural awareness, communication, and empathy skills is crucial to improving birth experiences and reducing health inequalities. Therefore, further research is needed to support the integration of culturally sensitive care models into midwifery practice.
