AI-Supported Models of Musical Thinking and Societal Transformation

Abstract

In the 21st century, artificial intelligence technologies have begun to reshape not only artistic production but also the very nature of human thought, aesthetic perception, and cultural transmission. Within this rapidly transforming digital landscape, music emerges as one of the most affected domains due to its historical role as a vehicle for cultural memory, emotional expression, and social identity construction. The algorithmic redefinition of musical thinking through learning machines and computational systems requires a multidimensional analysis in terms of individual creativity, aesthetic decision-making, and societal transformation. This paper aims to explore the conceptual and societal dimensions of AI-supported models of musical thinking. Drawing on neuromusicology, computational aesthetics, and posthumanist philosophy, the study adopts a qualitative approach and employs document analysis as its main method. The literature selected from musicology, philosophy, cognitive science, and educational technology has been analyzed within an interdisciplinary framework. The main findings indicate that AI-supported musical systems not only transform creative processes but also reshape cultural representation, social inequalities, and pedagogical practices. The ability of algorithms to simulate aesthetic decisions leads to epistemological ruptures in traditional understandings of music. At the same time, digital homogenization risks emerge in the representation of musical identities; however, these systems also hold strong potential for inclusivity and participation in music education. The originality of this study lies in its comprehensive theoretical framework that integrates music, artificial intelligence, and cultural transformation within aesthetic, ethical, and sociological dimensions. Furthermore, it examines how AI-supported musical systems redefine individual creativity and challenge the boundaries of human–machine interaction in aesthetic decision-making. In this respect, the cognitive, creative, societal, and pedagogical dimensions are considered together in an integrated theoretical structure. AI-supported musical thinking is regarded not merely as a technological innovation but as a driving force of societal modernization, emotional restructuring, and the transformation of aesthetic paradigms. Ultimately, the study proposes a critical, ethical, and culturally sensitive perspective for the future of music pedagogy.
