Mesoscopic Tectonic Features of the Menderes Massif in the North of Selimiye (Milas, Muğla)

Abstract

The Menderes Massif in the south of Beşparmak Mountains north of Selimiye (Milas,Muğla) consists of the upper Devonian-upper Permian metamorphites and the upper Oligocenegneisses. In this study, phases of deformation accompanied the regional metamorphism of the massifwere determined. The Paleozoic metamorphites experienced regional metamorphism under the upperamphibolite-greenschist facies conditions have undergone four phases of deformation. The firstdeformation phase produced schistosity and foliation planes as a result of regional metamorphism.Following this phase, the rocks have been subjected to refolding about B2=N 26°E, 50°SW and B3=N66°W, 60°SE directions. It is also observed that the region has been affected by uplifting, subsidence andblock faulting since Miocene.

SELİMİYE (MİLAS, MUĞLA) KUZEYİNDE MENDERES MASİFİNİN MESOSKOPİK TEKTONİK ÖZELLİKLERİ

Öz

Beşparmak Dağlarının güneyinde Selimiye (Milas, Muğla) dolayında Menderes Masifi, ÜstDevoniyen-Üst Permiyen yaşlı metamorfitler ile Üst Oligosen yaşlı gnayslardan oluşur. Bu çalışmadamasifin bölgesel metamorfizmasına eşlik eden deformasyon evreleri saptanmıştır. Yüksek amfibolit yeşilşist fasiyesinde bölgesel metamorfizma geçiren Paleozoyik yaşlı metamorfitler dört evreli sünümlüdeformasyona uğramıştır. İlk deformasyon evresinde bölgesel başkalaşım olaylarına bağlı olarak yapraklanma ve foliyasyon düzlemleri gelişmiştir. Bunu izleyen deformasyon evrelerinde ise kayaçlarB2=K 26°D,50°GB ve B3=K 66°B,60°GD konumlarında çok evreli olarak kıvrımlanmışlardır. İncelenen sahanın Miyosenden itibaren yükselmeler, alçalmalar ve blok faylanmalar şeklindeki kabuk devinimlerinin etkisinde olduğu gözlenmiştir.
