A Qualitative Study on Innovation and Its Effects in the Supply Chain

Öz

In today’s technological age, with the changes that occur and the radical solutions that initiatives produce, the supply chain is rapidly developing and renewing. With the impact of digitalization on the industrial world, companies have started to include innovative applications in their supply chains. Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to investigate the perspective of companies on innovation in the supply chain, their innovative applications and their effects in the context of Turkey. At the same time, innovations carried out within the framework of sustainability and their results are also among the objectives. Unlike previous studies on the examined subjects, a qualitative approach was adopted in this study; semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 companies operating in different sectors. The obtained data were analyzed using the content analysis method with MAXQDA software. It was understood that the findings do not contradict the quantitative studies in the literature. It was determined that innovation is widely accepted in order to improve cooperation between companies, reduce costs, speed up processes, increase customer satisfaction and competitiveness. It was also determined that integrating technological developments in supply chains is important and that there is awareness among companies on environmental sustainability issues. In the conclusion section of the study, the findings are discussed and suggestions are presented for practitioners.

Tedarik Zincirinde Yenilikçilik ve Etkileri Üzerine Nitel Bir Araştırma

Öz

Günümüz teknoloji çağında değişimlerin meydana gelmesiyle ve girişimlerin radikal çözümler üretmesiyle beraber tedarik zinciri hızla gelişmekte ve yenilenmektedir. Dijitalleşmenin endüstri dünyasına etkisiyle firmalar tedarik zincirlerine inovatif uygulamaları dâhil etmeye başlamıştır. Bu çalışma kapsamında, Türkiye bağlamında firmaların tedarik zincirinde yenilikçiliğe bakışı, yenilikçi uygulamaları ve etkilerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Aynı zamanda sürdürülebilirlik çerçevesinde yürütülen yenilikler ve sonuçları da amaçlar arasında yer almıştır. İncelenen konulara ilişkin önceki çalışmalardan farklı olarak bu çalışmada nitel bir yaklaşım benimsenmiş; farklı sektörlerde faaliyet gösteren 18 firma ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler MAXQDA yazılımı ile içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulguların literatürdeki nicel araştırmalar ile çelişmediği anlaşılmıştır. Firmalar arasında işbirliğini geliştirmek, maliyetleri azaltmak, süreçleri hızlandırmak, müşteri memnuniyetini ve rekabet gücünü artırmak için yenilikçiliğin büyük bir kabul gördüğü tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca tedarik zincirlerinde teknolojik gelişmelerin entegre edilmesinin önemli olduğu ve çevresel sürdürülebilirlik konularında firmalar arasında farkındalığın bulunduğu saptanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde bulgular tartışılmış ve uygulayıcılar için öneriler sunulmuştur.
