Examining Studies Published on Imam Hatip Schools: A Metasynthesis of Theses between 2000-2018

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study is to examine through a number of dimensions the theses published on Imam Hatip Schools between 2000 and 2018 in the Higher Education Council Thesis Center and to present the results to the attention of researchers. In line with this goal, 55 theses have been subjected to content analysis and examined. All the data have been classified and analyzed using descriptive statistics. According to the obtained data, theses on Imam Hatip schools consist mostly of master’s theses with quantitative designs being preferred in most of these theses; a significant increase in the number of theses about Imam Hatip Schools has been seen in recent years with questionnaires and attitude scales being used as data collection instruments and the majority of sample groups being composed of students. Student perceptions are found in first place as the studied subject. Based on these findings, the published theses are seen to focus on specific areas while certain important issues have either been ignored or not studied. Some issues that will guide researchers on this point have been shared in the results section. All these results are hoped to be useful for future studies.
