A STUDY ON GENETIC VARIATION OF HEIGHT IN DURUM WHEAT (Triticum durum desf.) BY DIALLEL ANALYSIS
Öz
In durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.), a 6x6 diallel crossing program were carried out by using 3 varieties and 3 advanced lines. 30 F1s produced out of this diallel program were evaluated for plant height. The results show that plant height is under the control of aditive and domimant gene actions. Mainly aditive effect is responsible for plant height while dominance effect remains partial. This is also proved by dominance ratio which is estimated as 0.48. Heritabilities are estimated as 0.89 for h2N and 0.94 for h2B. Gene frequency (=uv) is estimted as 0.17, and F gives negative value showing resessive alleles are more common than dominant alleles. When the results are evaluated for the parents, the advanced line ANK-01 has the highest number of resessive alleles, while KUNDURU-1149, the tallest variety among the parents, has the highest number of dominant alleles. ÇAKMAK-79, a short variety, is found to have less resessif gene than the taller ones.
