Çocuklarda Burunda Yabancı Cisimler: 132 Olgunun Değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Amaç: Burun boşluğuna yabancı cisim sokulması, çocuklarda çok yaygın bir olaydır. Bazen burun boşluğundaki yabancı

cismi tespit etmek güç olabilir. Yabancı cisimlerin tipleri çok değişkenlik gösterir ve çıkarmak bazen zor olabilir. Yabancı

cisimler burun boşluğunda kaldığı süre içerisinde ciddi komplikasyonlara neden olabilir.

Gereç ve Yöntemler: Nisan 2017 - Kasım 2017 tarihleri arasında Kulak Burun Boğaz kliniğinde burunda yabancı cisim

saptanan 132 hasta retrospektif olarak yaş, cinsiyet, başvuru şikayeti, klinik bulgular, yabancı cisim çeşitleri ve komplikasyon

açısından değerlendirildi.

Bulgular: Olguların %57.5’i kız, %42.5’i erkek ve ortalama yaş 45.9 aydı (SD:25.7). Olguların 86 tanesinde (%65.1)

sağ nazal kavitede yabancı cisim saptandı. Hastaların başvuru şikayeti %53.1’inde tek taraflı pürülan burun akıntısı,

%24.1’inde burun kanaması, %22.8’inde kötü kokuydu. İnorganik maddeler burunda yabancı cisimlerin başlıca türüydü

(%83.4). Boncuk 26 olgu ile en sık görülen inorganik maddeydi (%23.6).

Sonuç: Burunda yabancı cisim özellikle çocuklarda sıklıkla görülür ve burun tıkanıklığı, tek taraflı pürülan burun akıntısı,

burun kanaması, kötü koku oluşturarak klinik olarak kendini gösterebilir. Burunda yabancı cisimler geç tespit edilirse

sinüzit, otitis media, rinolit, periorbital selülit, menenjit gibi komplikasyonlara neden olabilir. Bu nedenle KBB ve pediatri

kliniklerine burun tıkanıklığı, tek taraflı pürülan burun akıntısı, burun kanaması ve burunda kötü koku şikayeti ile başvuran

hastalarda burunda yabancı cisim varlığı her zaman düşünülmelidir.

Nasal Foreign Bodies in Children: Assessment of 132 Cases

Öz

Objective: Insertion of a foreign body in the nasal cavitiy is a very common incident in children. It can sometimes be

difficult to detect a foreign body in the nasal cavitiy. The type of foreign body varies and extraction can sometimes be

difficult. As long as foreign bodies remain in the nasal cavity, they may cause serious complications.

Material and Methods: Between April 2017 and November 2017, 132 patients with foreign bodies seen at the ENT

clinic were evaluated retrospectively in terms of age, gender, complaints, clinical findings, foreign body types and

complications.

Results: 57.5% of the cases were female and 42.5% were male. The mean age was 45.9 months (SD: 25.7). The

location was the right nasal cavity in 86 patients (65.1%). The presenting symptom was unilateral purulant rhinorrhea in

53.1% of the cases, epistaxis in 24.1% of cases and foul odor in 22.8% of cases. The main types of nasal foreign body

were inorganic materials (83.4%). Beads were the most common inorganic substance with 26 cases (23.6%).

Conclusion: A nasal foreign body is frequently seen in children, and can manifest clinically by creating nasal obstruction,

unilateral purulent nasal discharge, nose bleeding, and foul odor. If nasal foreign bodies are detected late, complications

such as sinusitis, otitis media, rhinolitis, periorbital cellulitis, and meningitis may occur. The presence of foreign bodies

should therefore always be considered in patients with nasal obstruction, unilateral purulent nasal discharge, epistaxis and

foul odor complaints in ENT and pediatric clinics.
