Relation of physiological and morphological parameters with heat stress in the some durum wheat genotypes
Öz
In this study, some physiological and morphological parameters, which can be easily and quickly measured, were examined in durum wheat breeding for resistance to heat stress. Thirteen of durum wheat genotypes were used as a material. Trial were conducted in irrigated conditions according to randomized complete blocks design with split plots with 3 replications as normal and late planting time at the GAP International Agricultural Research and Training Center trial field. Drought stress was eliminated with irrigation and heat stress was formed with late sowing. According to heat susceptibility index (HSI), calculated over grain yield, Fırat-93, Diyarbakir-81 cultivars showed tolerant; Fuatbey-2000, Sarıçanak-98, Ç-1252, Özberk, Zühre and Şahinbey cultivars showed medium tolerant; Sorgül, Svevo, Bağacak, Şölen and Omrabi cultivars showed sensitive reaction. Low canopy temperature (CT) and grain filling speed were related with heat tolerance. Although SPAD 502 chlorophyll meter, erectness and waxiness did not relate heat tolerance, those can be used to select the genotypes which have high yield potential.
