Öz
The aim of this study is to examine the hope level of cancer patients’ caregivers in terms of their attitudes towards cancer treatment and various demographic variables (gender, social security, perceived socio-economic level, level of development of the patient, repetition of the patient's disease, the transportation where the patients were treated, the educational status) This study is a descriptive survey model inquiry. The "Dispositional Hope Scale (DHS)” which was adapted to Turkish culture by Bacanlı and Tarhan (2015) and developed by Snyder et al. (1991) and “Attitude Towards Cancer Treatment Scale“ developed by Tekin (2015) were used in the research. The study is based on the hope model developed by Snyder (1991). The study group consists of 304 adult individuals aged 21-65 years. In the analysis of the data, t test for independent samples, one way variance analysis, simple linear regression analysis were used . According to the results of the study, there was no statistically significant difference between gender, social security, level of development of the interested patient, transportation status and education level of the patient concerned and Dispositional Hope Scale (DHS) score. A statistically significant difference was found between both the socio-economic level and the repetation of the patient's disease with the Dispositional Hope Scale (DHS) score. Attitude Towards Cancer Treatment Scale score was found to be a statistically significant predictor of DHS score. At the end of the study, recommendations were given for field researchers and mental health specialists in the direction of findings.
