Attitudes of Nursing Students Regarding the Adequacy of Distance Learning in Health Sciences Courses During the Pandemic Period: A Descriptive Study

Öz

Aim: This study was conducted to examine the variables affecting nursing students' attitudes towards distance learning during the pandemic. Materials and Methods: The descriptive study included 431 nursing students. The data collection period is between November-December 2021. The data collection tool consists of a Personal Information Form and Attitude Scale Regarding the Use of Distance Learning Environments During the Pandemic. Data analysis was performed using parametric tests (Independent Samples T-test, One-Way ANOVA test, and Pearson correlation analysis). Results: Most of the students participating in the study were female (74.5%), of middle income (59.4%), living in a district (59.4%), and in their third year of study (32.7%). Most students did not have sufficient technological resources during the pandemic (51.5%). Most students were dissatisfied with distance learning (45.0%) and found the courses offered through distance learning to be inadequate (44.8%). Economic status, place of residence and class level are factors that influence attitudes towards distance learning environments (p<0.05). Technological capabilities influence attitudes towards distance learning satisfaction and the adequacy of lessons (p<0.05). Conclusion: Age, economic status, grade level, technological resources, satisfaction, and perceptions of adequacy were identified as factors influencing attitudes towards distance education.
