A study on water effects on paper sheet structure formation

Öz

Each anhydroglucopyronose units that formed structure of cellulose has three free hydroxyl groups and these effects penetration and bonding of free water to cellulose. Cellulose-water interaction and absorption or desorption of water in cellulose resulting swelling and shrinkage properties are the main elements during forming of sheet structure. Interaction between water molecules and polar effects with hydroxyl groups on cellulose chains resulting wet cellulose fibers can be come together to form bonds. Drying effects cellulose fibers to come together and fiber-fiber bonds formed. There are many theory on cellulose-water interacation that effects on sheet structure. In this study, some important and gain acceptance of approaches have been evaluated. Keywords: Water, Cellulose, Sheet structure, Hydrogen bonds
