The effects of changing moisture on some mechanical properties of cement-bonded wood particleboard

Cement-bonded wood particleboard is widely used especially in construction sector because of it is strength for moisture, sound and heat insulation and resistance towards fungi and insects. In the areas it is used, cement-bonded wood particleboard is exposed to various weather conditions such as rain and sun, therefore its mechanical features changes. In this study, modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE) and surface vertical screw holding strength of the cement-bonded wood particleboards having different moisture values are measured. The highest values of MOR, MOE and surface vertical screw holding strength are found in air-dried moisture levels. It was shown that decreases in the relevant mechanical features by increasing or decreasing in the moisture levels. Keywords: Cement-bonded particleboard, Composite, Humidity

Çimentolu yonga levhanın bazı özelliklerine rutubet değişimin etkisinin belirlenmesi

Öz

Çimentolu yonga levha, rutubete karşı dayanaklı olması, yüksek ses ve ısı yalıtım özelliği, mantar ve böceklere karşı dirençli olmasından dolayı özellikle yapı sektöründe yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Çimentolu yonga levhalar kullanım yerinde yağmur ve güneş etkisi gibi değişik hava koşullarına maruz kalmakta ve buna bağlı olarak mekanik özellikleri değişmektedir. Bu çalışmada; rutubet değişimine bağlı olarak farklı rutubet değerlerine sahip olan çimentolu yonga levhaların eğilme direnci, eğilmede elastikiyet modülü ve levha yüzeyine dik vida tutma dirençleri tespit edilmiştir. Test örneklerinin eğilme direnci, eğilmede elastikiyet modülü ve yüzeye dik yönde vida tutma direncinin en yüksek değeri hava kurusu rutubet değerlerinde tespit edilmiştir. Rutubet değerinin artması veya azalması ile bahsedilen mekanik özelliklerde azalmaların olduğu belirlenmiştir. Anahtar kelimeler: Çimentolu yonga levha, Kompozit, Rutubet
