Evaluation of the relationship between the "Falling Risk" and Vitamin D level of Patients Receiving Neurological Rehabilitation Treatment

Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of vitamin D levels on balance and fall risk on hemiplegic cases. Methods: In our descriptive study, a total of 152 patients who applied to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Polyclinic with the diagnosis of Hemiplegia and were hospitalized in Maçka Ömer Burhanoğlu Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital between July 2020 and January 2021 were included. Results: A total of the 152 patients enrolled in the study, 57 were women (37.5%) and 95 were men (62.5%). The average age of the patients was 62.0± 12.7. The number of patients enrolled in the study was 19 (12.5%), 98 (64.5%), and 35 (23.0%). The number of patients with vitamin D Levels <12 ng/ml measured on the first day of hospitalization was 70 (46.1%), the number of patients between 12-20 ng/ml was 50 (32.9%), and the number of patients with >20 ng/ml was 32 (21.0%). Again, the vitamin D values measured on the last day of discharge of patients enrolled in the study were <12 ng/ml 46 (31.3%). In the study, the correlation between vitamin D levels during discharge and Berg Balance Scale score and İtaki Fall Risk Scale score was examined.; There is no difference between vitamin D level and Berg Balance Scale score at positive weak level (r=0.184, p<0.05) and İtaki Fall Risk Scale. (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study showed that vitamin D levels had positive effects on balance and decreased risk of falls in hemiplegia patients with low vitamin D levels.

Nörolojik Rehabilitasyon Tedavisi gören Hastaların Düşme Riskinin D vitamin düzeyi ile ilişkisinin değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmada D vitamini düzeyinin hemiplejik hastalarda denge ve düşme riski üzerine etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki çalışmaya Maçka Ömer Burhanoğlu Fizik Tedavi ve Rehabilitasyon Hastanesinde Temmuz 2020-Ocak 2021 tarihleri arasında Fiziksel Tıp ve Rehabilitasyon Polikliniğine hemipleji tanısı ile başvuran ve yatırılarak tedaviye alınan toplam 152 hasta alınmıştır. D vitamini eksikliği ya da yetersizliği saptanan hastalara Türk Endokrinoloji ve Metabolizma Derneği önerilerine uygun olarak damla formülünde D vitamini tedavisi verildi. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan 152 hastanın 57’si (%37,5) kadın, 95’i (%62,5) erkektir. Hastaların yaş ortalaması 62,0± 12,7 idi. Çalışmaya alınan hastaların sigara içenlerin sayısı 19 (%12,5), sigarayı bırakanların sayısı ise 35 (%23,0) idi. Hastaların hastaneye yattıkları ilk gün ölçülen D vitamini düzeyleri <12 ng/ml olan hasta sayısı 70 (%46,1), 12-20 ng/ml arasında olan hasta sayısı 50 (%3,9) ve >20 ng/ml olan hasta sayısı 32 (%21,0) idi. Hastaların taburcu oldukları gün ölçülen D vitamini değerleri ise; <12 ng/ml sayısı 46 (%31,3) idi. Hastaların taburculuk esnasındaki D vitamini düzeyi ile Berg Denge Ölçeği puanı ve İtaki Düşme Riski Ölçeği puanı arasındaki korelasyon incelendiğinde; D vitamin düzeyi ile Berg Denge Ölçeği puanı arasında pozitif yönde zayıf düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki varken (r=0,184, p<0,05), İtaki Düşme Riski Ölçeği puanı ile negatif korelasyon olmasına rağmen istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark yoktur. Sonuç: Bu çalışma düşük D vitamini seviyesine sahip hemiplejik hastalarda D vitamini takviyesinin düşme riskinin azalması ve denge üzerinde olumlu etkisi olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.
