The survival of children and young people with type 1 diabetes as a healthy individual depends on the diabetes education given by the multidisciplinary pediatric diabetes team, in which the diabetic individual plays a central role. With successful education, individuals with Type 1 diabetes and their families should be able to solve problems. It should be able to manage its blood sugar on its own. It should be strengthened and motivated to use knowledge and practical skills. Before starting the diabetes education of the child and family; components such as health beliefs and attitudes, basic diabetes knowledge, cultural status, self-management skills, readiness to learn, general and health literacy, learning style, ability, financial status, family and social support should be evaluated.Diabetes education should be started at the time of first diagnosis for all individuals with diabetes and their families. It should be given regularly, in accordance with age and developmental characteristics. It should be repeated once a year or more often. Successful education should not only provide information but also improve the quality of life. At the same time, starting from the moment of diagnosis, it should continue throughout life. Children and their families should be able to be independent, strong, and well-being physically and mentally at all points in their lives.
