Öz

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between coronavirus anxiety and health literacy in health professional students with COVID-19 vaccine.
Method: The cross-sectional study was conducted with 216 students studying in the health sciences departments of a university who received the COVID-19 vaccine and who were doing clinical practice in the hospital. The sample size was determined as 152 using the G Power program. Criteria for inclusion in the study were: being a student of medicine, nursing and physical therapy and rehabilitation departments, agreeing to participate, having been vaccinated against COVID-19 and doing clinical practice in the hospital. Students who filled out the forms incompletely, were under the age of 18, were not vaccinated against COVID-19, were not doing clinical practice in the hospital, were senior students, and students in classes that were not doing clinical practice were not included in the study. Data were collected online using the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale, Health Literacy Scale. Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test and Spearman correlation analysis were used in data analysis.
Results: The mean age of the students was 21.22 ± 2.47, 24.5% were male, 17.1% were medical students, 29.6% were physical therapy and rehabilitation students, and 53.2% were nursing students. The participants' mean total scores for health literacy was 108.23 ± 12.35, and mean scores for coronavirus anxiety was 2.53 ± 4.01. 10.2% of students had coronavirus anxiety symptoms. The coronavirus anxiety in those had COVID-19, those with clinical practice anxiety, and females was higher (p<0.05). It was determined that the health literacy of the students who do not have an clinical practice anxiety, who are medical students and who are in the older age group is higher (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between students' health literacy and coronavirus anxiety scores depending on whether they thought the COVID-19 vaccine was effective (p>0.05). An inverse relationship was determined between health literacy and coronavirus anxiety scores (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Although the students' coronavirus anxiety symptoms were low and their health literacy was at a good level, it is determined that students with insufficient health literacy have higher coronavirus anxiety symptoms. It is recommended to include health literacy content in the education curricula of health professional departments and to increase the psychological counseling services that students can easily access.

Covid-19 Aşısı Olan Sağlık Profesyoneli Öğrencilerinin Koronavirüs Anksiyete Düzeyleri ile Sağlık Okuryazarlığı Arasındaki İlişkinin Belirlenmesi

Yıl 2024, Cilt: 18 Sayı: 2, 139 - 147, 28.05.2024
https://doi.org/10.21763/tjfmpc.1280949

Bulgular: Öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 21.22 ± 2.47, %24.5’ü erkek, %17.1’i tıp, %29.6’sı fizik tedavi ve rehabilitasyon, %53.2’i hemşirelik bölümü öğrencisi idi.
