The research was conducted according to the randomized complete‐block design with three replicates with aim to investigate grain yield, ear characteristics and popping rates of popcorn populations with yellow, brown, purple, black and white seed colors at Burdur conditions. Differences among the populations in term of ear characteristics were statistically (P≤0.01) significant, while popping rate was insignificant. The ear length, ear diameter, seed number per ear, number per ear, ear weight, thousand grain weight, hectoliter weight, popping rate and grain yield varied between 11.5-18.2 cm, 29.3-35.6 mm, 374.3-594.3 number per ear, 64.3-131.2 g, 110.2-179.3 kg, 74.3-82.6 kg100L, 95.3-98.6% and 317.6-504.0 kg da-1 between varied in popcorn populations. Grain yield ranged as genotypes with seed color descending order yellow>brown>purple>black>white. When the grain yield and ear characteristics were evaluated, the popcorn populations with yellow and brown colored had high values.
