Abstract

The legalregulations concerning copyright came into existence as a result of certain historical developments. One of 'the most important agents in the historical process of copyright was the introduction of printing press. The advent of the printing press, which has been a magnetic topic in the discussions about the “history of the book”, played a crucial role in the development of copyright on the global scale. Therefore, in order to understand the historical process, it would be worthwhile to look at the evolution of copyright in Europe, in the Ottoman Empire and finally in Turkey
