In this study, the literary representations and uses of prominent cities of Turkestan, which constitutes an important region of Central Asia, in the poems of Classical Turkish and Persian literature were examined. Turkestan has always maintained its importance for both Turks and Persians from various aspects due to its geographical location, riches and beauties from past to present. Indeed, since ancient times, Turkestan has been known by everyone for its high-quality and unique silk fabrics; the valuable jade extracted from this region; the valuable and fragrant musk obtained from the gazelles specific to this vast geography; and in addition to all these, it has become famous for the slanted-eyed, white-skinned and beautiful-faced people living here. Old and important cities such as Khoten, Çigil, Khalluh and Farkhar, which are famous for their unique and valuable treasures in the geography of Turkestan, have been widely accepted by the poets of both Classical Turkish and Classical Persian literature. These cities were sometimes used by poets as a place name in the context of topography in both literatures; sometimes they were included in rhyme or repeated rhyme and mostly became an element of simile while describing the matchless beauty of the beloved who stole the lover's mind, patience and heart. Therefore, Turkestan contains valuable and rich data from various perspectives that find use in the poems of poets in both Classical Turkish literature and Classical Persian literature. In the study, the cities of Turkestan, which are included in Classical Turkish literature and Classical Persian literature, were determined by scanning the poetry divans of the selected poets; the cities in the geography of Turkestan, which are commonly used in both literatures, were categorized. In the context of making statistical data more understandable and visible within the framework of the comparative literature analysis method, the analysis of the usage rates of these cities by poets in Classical Turkish poetry and Classical Persian poetry is shown in the table. An analysis focused on comparative textual interpretation was carried out on the examination of selected sample couplets of certain poets in Classical Turkish literature and Classical Persian literature.
