Dijital Çağdan Yapay Zekâ Çağına: Sözlü Çeviri ve Sözlü Çeviri Eğitimi Alanındaki Dönüşümler

Öz

Bu çalışma, sürecinde sözlü çeviri eğitiminde meydana gelen dönüşümleri yapay zekâ odağında ele almıştır. Dijitalleşmenin çeviri pratikleri üzerindeki etkileri, basılı metinlerin dijital ortamlara aktarılması, okuma ve yazma alışkanlıklarının yatay okumadan dikey okumaya dönüşmesi ve dijital okuryazarlık kavramının önem kazanması dijital çağın beraberinde getirdiği gelişmeler arasındadır. Yapay zekâ teknolojilerinin son yıllarda hızla gelişmesiyle birlikte, çeviri alanında daha derin ve çok boyutlu değişimler yaşanmıştır. Yazılı çeviri uygulamaları büyük ölçüde makine çevirisi ve son düzenleme süreçlerine evrilmiş, çevirmenlerin mesleki rolleri yaratıcı metin üretimi, kalite kontrolü ve proje temelli görevler doğrultusunda yeniden tanımlanmıştır. Benzer biçimde, sözlü çeviri alanı da makine çevirisi, otomatik konuşma tanıma sistemleri içeren bilgisayar destekli sözlü çeviri araçları, özellikle asenkron içerikler ya da videodaki konuşmaları alt yazı ile takip etme uygulamaları ve transkripsiyon uygulamaları, yapay zekâ destekli geri bildirim, analiz araçları ve üretken yapay zekânın vb. yaygınlaşmasıyla ciddi bir dönüşüm geçirmektedir. Bu gelişmeler, sözlü çeviri eğitimindeki pedagojik yaklaşımlarının yeniden yapılandırılmasını gerekli kılmıştır. Ayrıca sözlü çevirmenlerden beklenen becerilerde değişmeye başlamıştır. Çalışmada, yapay zekâ destekli uygulama ve ilişkili teknolojilerin sözlü çeviri ve sözlü çeviri eğitiminde tamamlayıcı araçlar olarak kullanımına odaklanılmış ve bu entegrasyonun çeviri eğitimine sağlayabileceği katkılar değerlendirilmiştir.

From the Digital Age to the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Transformations in Interpreting and Interpreting Education

Öz

This study addressed the transformations in interpreting education, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. Among the developments the digital age brought are the transfer of printed texts to digital environments, the transformation of reading and writing habits from horizontal to vertical reading, and the growing prominence of digital literacy in translation and interpreting practices. Via the arrival of artificial intelligence technologies over the past few years, more profound and multidimensional changes have occurred in translation and interpreting. Written translation practices have shifted mainly toward machine translation and post-editing, while translators’ professional roles have been redefined toward creative text production, quality control, and project-based tasks. Similarly, the field of interpreting is experiencing a significant transformation through the widespread adoption of computer-assisted interpreting tools, including machine translation and automatic speech recognition systems, applications for following asynchronous content or video speeches via subtitles, transcription tools, AI-supported feedback and analysis tools, and generative AI. These developments have necessitated a restructuring of pedagogical approaches in interpreter training. Additionally, the skills expected of interpreters have begun to change. This study analyzses the use of AI-supported applications and related technologies as complementary tools in interpreting and interpreting education and evaluates the possible contributions of this integration to translation training.
