PHOTOGRAPHIC METHODS IN ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH: RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPROACHES

Fotoğrafçılık, arkeolojik araştırmalar alanında çok önemli bir belgeleme aracıdır. Kazı ve yüzey araştırması gibi arkeolojik araştırma yöntemleri kapsamında, çalışmaların ve keşiflerin genel bağlamını görüntülerle yakalamak çok önemlidir. Arkeolojik çalışmalarda kullanılan fotoğrafçılık teknolojisi ve teknikleri her geçen yıl gelişmektedir. Günümüzde, teknolojinin hızlı ilerlemesi, araştırmacılara bulgularını belgelemek için olağanüstü araçlar sağlamaktadır. Ancak, yalnızca ekipmana sahip olmak, çağdaş teknolojinin faydalarından yararlanmak için yeterli değildir; fotoğraf ekipmanına ve özellikle metodolojilerine dair sağlam bir anlayışa sahip olmak, belgeleme sürecini büyük ölçüde kolaylaştırır. The technology and techniques of photography utilized in archaeological endeavors are enhancing with each passing year. Nowadays, the swift progression of technology equips researchers with exceptional tools for documenting their finds. However, merely possessing the equipment isn't sufficient to leverage the benefits of contemporary technology; having a solid understanding of photography gear and especially its methodologies greatly streamlines the documentation process. In this vein, a range of photographic methods can be employed at any excavation site and at different stages, assuming one has access to at least a semi-professional camera. This paper delves into the three fundamental techniques most essential to archaeological photography. These techniques include the 'panoramic photography technique,' the 'HDR photography technique,' and the 'focus stacking technique.' The primary aim of this research is to elucidate how to capture the images necessary for an archaeological project in the most precise and beneficial manner. To effectively implement these techniques, one must possess a competent level of camera and Photoshop software. With a bit of practice, anyone interested can readily apply the technical insights outlined in this study. In photography, which is a vital aspect of archaeological work, employing the appropriate techniques will yield more impactful results.
