Öz

This study aims to find out how individuals' Joy of Missing Out (JoMO) tendencies differ in demographic variables and perceived level of welfare contexts. The data collection was conducted via an online survey between January 5-9, 2026. Data was collected from 227 participants. As data collection tool, The Turkish adaptation of the JoMO scale was used. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were applied in the analysis of the data. The findings show that JoMO total scores differ significantly across generations. The study found that Gen X and Gen Y participants had higher levels of JoMO compared to Gen Z participants. When the sub-dimensions were examined, a significant difference was found between generations in the dimension of Joy of Disconnection; while no significant differences were found in Joy of Independence and Joy of Self-reflection. In comparisons based on gender, male participants scored higher than female participants only on the subscale of the Joy of Independence; no significant difference was found in terms of the total JoMO score. No significant difference was found in the total JoMO score and subscale scores in terms of the variables of education level and perceived level of welfare.
