Öz

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, inanç turizmi başlıklı çalışmaların bibliyometrik analizini BibExcel ve VOSviewer programları aracılığıyla belirlenen kategoriler altında yapmaktır. Web of Science veri tabanında "inanç turizmi" (Religious Tourism) kategorisindeki makaleler incelenmiştir. Atıf ve yayın sayısı bakımından, Collins-Kreiner Noga, Terzidou Matina, Shinde Kiran A, isimli yazarların ön plana çıktığı görülmektedir.

The primary objective of this research is to perform a bibliometric analysis of studies on religious tourism, utilizing the categories established by the BibExcel and VOSviewer programs. The articles in the category of “Religious Tourism” in the Web of Science database were analyzed. In this study, articles published in various journals between 1992 and 2024 were analyzed. The analysis was conducted in March 2024. In the search for “Religious Tourism” on Web of Science, 1873 studies were identified as topics and 1543 studies were identified as articles. As a result of filtering with ESCI, SSCI and SCI-E limitations, 1313 studies in all languages and 1088 studies in English were identified. Using Bibexcel and VOSviewer, the articles were analyzed for active authors, countries, journals, key author keywords, key Web of Science keywords, co-authorship analysis, co-occurrence analysis, citation analysis, bibliographic link analysis and co-citation analysis. Citation and co-citation networks were visualized with bibliometric mapping technique. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the number of articles published in the field of faith tourism has increased significantly in recent years. The most cited journals are Annals of Tourism Research, Tourısm Management, Journal of Herıtage Tourısm. In terms of the number of citations and publications, it is seen that the authors named Collins-Kreiner Noga, Terzidou Matina, Shinde Kiran A, come to the fore. It was determined that the most frequently used keywords in the articles were “Religious tourism”, “tourism”, “pilgrimage”, “faith” and “cultural tourism”. In addition, when the most productive countries publishing articles on faith tourism are analyzed, it is seen that the USA, Spain and China are among the top ten countries where Türkiye is also among the top ten.
