Asthma an inflammatory disease of the airways nbsp; is the most common chronic disease in childhood Although pulmonary function tests are essential in the diagnosis it is difficult to perform it in children less than 5 years old That is why a detailed medical history and a complete physical exam become crucial in this age group The clinical response to common environmental allergens and nonspecific triggers such as viral infections passive smoking or exercise are important findings for the diagnosis Improvement of clinical findings in response to asthma treatment also supports for nbsp; the diagnosis Early treatment contributes to the better control of clinical signs Turk Arch Ped 2010; 45: 80th Year: 6 10 Key words: Asthma children diagnosis differential diagnosis

Öz

Solunum yollarının kronik enflamatuvar hastalığı olarak tanımlanan astım çocukluk döneminin en sık rastlanan kronik hastalığıdır Astım tanısında solunum fonksiyon testleri önemlidir Ancak küçük çocuklarda solunum fonksiyon testlerinin yapılması uyum problemleri nedeniyle güç olduğu için tanıda öykü klinik ve laboratuvar bulgular önem kazanır Öykü geniş olarak alınmalı ve astım bulgularının ortaya çıkmasına neden olan faktörler ayrıntılı olarak sorgulanmalıdır Allerjenler ve irritan faktörlerle karşılaşılması durumunda klinik bulguların ortaya çıkması astım tanısında önemlidir Ayrıca klinik bulguların uygulanan astım tedavisiyle düzelme göstermesi tanıda değerlidir Astım tanısının erken dönemde konması ve tedavinin erken başlatılması hastalık bulgularının daha kolay kontrol altına alınabilmesine olanak sağlayacaktır Türk Ped Arş 2010; 45: 80 Yıl: 6 10 Anahtar sözcükler: Astım ayırıcı tanı çocuklar tanı
