EVALUATION OF THE PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN TEACHING 8TH GRADE REVOLUTION HISTORY AND KEMALISM SUBJECTS ACCORDING TO TEACHERS OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

Öz

Revolution History and Kemalism has been one of the important courses given from primary education to high education. The purpose of the course is to pass down the national soul of the country in order to make young generations aware of and put up connection between our past and current. Even though it is such an important course, there have been problems encountered in the syllabus of the course from beginning to today. The objective of this research is to evaluate the problems encountered within the perspective of the teachers of the course and thus we will be able to reach the so called kitchen of the subject. So, descriptive case study was chosen as the research methodology. To identify the views of the teachers; open-ended questions, literature review, teacher and supervisor idea inventories were prepared. The scope of the study consists of the teachers of social sciences teaching the course revolution history and Kemalism and working at the central province of Mugla city. The participants are randomly chosen 10 teachers of social sciences among the scope. According to the results obtained, 2 hours of Atatürk’s principles and revolution history per week is seen not enough and also the conditions of schools in terms of teaching technologies, method and approach and materials was not well, too

ORTAOKUL 8. SINIF İNKILÂP TARİHİ VE ATATÜRKÇÜLÜK KONULARININ ÖĞRETİMİNDE KARŞILAŞILAN SORUNLARIN SOSYAL BİLGİLER ÖĞRETMEN GÖRÜŞLERİNE GÖRE DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Öz

İnkılâp Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersi günümüzde İlkokuldan yükseköğretime kadar okutulan zorunlu ve en önemli derslerden biridir. Türk İnkılâbının eğitimdeki amacı, genç nesillerimize geçmiş ve günümüz arasında bağlantı kurdurarak milli ruhu etkin kılabilmektir. Böylesine önemli bir ders olan İnkılap Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersinin öğretiminde çeşitli sorunlarla karşılaşılmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı da İnkılâp Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersinin öğretiminde karşılaşılan sorunları öğretmen görüşleri çerçevesinde değerlendirmek ve konuya öğretmenlerin gözünden bakabilmektir. Tarama modeliyle gerçekleştirilen araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan ve 5 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış bir anket formu kullanılmıştır. Öğretmen görüşlerini belirlemek için oluşturulan açık uçlu sorular, alanyazın taraması, öğretmen ve uzman görüşleri sonucu hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Muğla il merkezinde görev yapan İnkılâp Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük derslerini okutan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem grubu random (rastgele) yöntemi ile belirlenerek Muğla il merkezi okullarında görev yapan 10 sosyal bilgiler öğretmenine uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonunda elde edilen bulgulara göre genel olarak İnkılâp Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersinin programda uygulanan 2 saatlik ders süresinin yetersiz olduğu, öğretim teknolojileri, yöntem teknik ve materyal açısından ise öğretmenlerin yetersiz olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır
