presented following ‘mixed methods sequential explanatory research design.’
Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire via Google Forms and
analyzed using SPSS version 17. Qualitative data were collected through
interviews to explain the result of the quantitative phase. The data were
content analyzed and codes and themes were created based on the researcher’s
interpretations. Results reveal that these card tricks can best be used either
at the beginning or at the end of the lessons, especially with young learners.
Though participants believe ‘Magician’ is the most applicable, they attribute
special characteristics to each of the card tricks. Pedagogical implications were
drawn from the results and discussed in the conclusion.
