The need for energy resources in the world is increasing day by day. Energy is in an important position in terms of providing the necessary resources for the growth that countries need in their development process. Fossil fuels used to provide the required energy are widely used today as they were in the past. In the face of this situation, it is important for Turkey to set targets and produce policies by adopting sustainable methods in the development process. Accordingly, the aim of this study, which is addressed within the framework of sustainable development goals in Turkey, is to determine the effects of energy use, industrialization, economic growth and renewable energy consumption on carbon emissions in Turkey in the period 1990-2021. In the econometric model established in the study, carbon emission is the dependent variable, and the share of energy use, industrialization, economic growth and renewable energy in total energy consumption is the independent variable. ARDL bounds test and Toda-Yamamoto causality tests are used in the method of the study. The findings of the study show that energy use and industrialization increase carbon emissions in both the short and long term, and on the contrary, the share of economic growth and renewable energy in total energy consumption decreases carbon emissions in both the short and long term. Based on the findings of the study, some policy recommendations regarding Turkey's sustainable development process will be presented.
