In line with the developments in technology, parental responsibilities have also transformed and the concept of digital parenting has emerged. Today’s digital parents share their children's images and information publicly on Instagram. Sharing children's content from accounts cre- ated on behalf of children and families is called sharenting. In this study, the content shared using the “child” hashtag on Instagram was examined using the netnographic method. In the study, it is aimed to determine the content created by parents through sharenting. In this regard, 6134 posts shared on Instagram using the “child” hashtag between 1-15 June 2023 were examined. As a result of the study, it was determined that parents created and shared accounts on behalf of their "children" and “families” on Instagram. When the shares are eval- uated in terms of content, it has been determined that children are used as commercial “com- modities” through sharing. In addition, it has been determined that while parents use sharing as a means of representation to create an ideal parent image with the created content, they violate the privacy of children with the private images and information they share. Content shared on Instagram without the awareness and consent of children carries the risk of circu- lating posts that children may not want in the future. Failure to protect the privacy boundary in the shared content may lead to psychological problems in the adulthood of children, and at the same time, the fact that families create a digital identity as a decision-maker on behalf of children shows the negative consequences of sharing.
