ENGELLİ ÇOCUĞU OLAN ANNELERDE TÜKENMİŞLİK: NİTEL BİR ÇALIŞMA

Öz

Anneler
engelli çocukları için kendi ihtiyaç ve isteklerinden fedakârlık etme ile çok
fazla enerji harcama nedeniyle artık verecek hiçbir şeyleri kalmadığı anlarda
tükenmişlik yaşamaktadır.  Bu çalışma,
nitel araştırma modeli çerçevesinde yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği
kullanılarak engelli çocuğu olan 12 anne ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu
çalışmanın amacı engelli çocukların bakımında yalnızlaştırılan anneleri,
tükenmişliğe iten sebeplerin derinlemesine incelenmesi ve bu hususta gerekli
tedbirlerin alınmasını sağlamaktır.



Ebeveynlik,
çocuk sahibi olmanın getirdiği günlük yaşam zorlukları ve bakım sorumlulukları
nedeniyle stres deneyimlerinin sıklıkla yaşandığı bir dönemdir. Engelli bir
çocuğun doğumu ile birlikte ebeveynler beklenmedik zorluklar ve ihtiyaçlarla
karşılaşabilmektedir. Engelli çocukların aile sistemine katılmasıyla birlikte
ebeveynler ilk aşamada şok, inkâr, suçluluk, hayal kırıklığı, dış dünyanın
tutumundan kaçınma, ani krizler, özgüven ve kendine saygı eksikliği gibi
tavırlar sergileyebilmektedir. Engelli çocuğa sahip olan ebeveynler kendi
yaşamlarını organize etme aşamasında zamanlarının büyük bir kısmını özel bakım
ve ilgi görmesi gereken çocukları ile geçirecekleri gerçeğini göz önünde
bulundurmak durumundadır. Bu noktada anne ve babaların farklı baş etme
mekanizmaları geliştirdikleri bilinmektedir. Anneler geleneksel aile rolleri
çerçevesinde çocuğun birincil bakımını üstlendiği için üzüntü, keder, öfke ve
ağlama gibi duygu geçişlerini sıklıkla yaşamaktadır. Bu problemlerin yanı sıra
engelli çocuğu olan anneler; hayal kırıklığı, plan ve hayallerinden vazgeçme,
kronik yorgunluk hissine kapılma gibi risklerle baş başa kalmaktadır.
