The aim of the study is to examine the views of medical social workers about the safety risks that they encounter in their working hours and private lives, including stress factors and work accident elements. In-depth interviews were conducted with 20 social workers who are members of the Ankara Branch of the Association of Social Workers, using the semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers and prepared in a qualitative design. Participants were selected by purposive sampling. The data were analyzed by thematic analysis method. It was determined that the medical social workers participating in the study faced client and institution-based risks rather than instrumental and environmental risks. The risks in question occur in the form of verbal and emotional violence, threat of violence, threat of legal sanction, which do not have life-threatening consequences. In addition, they may encounter aggressive clients in unpredictable areas, and they do not feel safe in these situations; It has been observed that the perceived security risk can vary according to the socio-economic level of the clients as well as their age and gender. Participants need technological tracking devices and deterrent penalties in order to reduce the security risk in their work areas, and they report the risks to the management unit even if they think that it will not reduce the security risks.
