Clinical social work, considered as one of field of practice of psychiatric social work, includes individual, couple, family and group counselling that helps people overcome interpersonal and environmental problems and focuses on contributing to their social functioning. There are only two universities (Yıldırım Beyazıt University and Başkent University) that have graduate programs in clinical social work in Turkey. In this sense, when clinical social work is evaluated in general in our country, it can be said that it cannot be institutionalized sufficiently due to the lack of sufficient legal ground. Although it has been determined that a generalist approach in social work is adopted and that a clinical-oriented education approach exists in the graduate school, it can be stated that clinical social work education is at the beginning of its development. In this study, the current situation in the field of clinical social work and clinical social work education will be tried to be addressed through the example of the United States of America (USA), where this field has developed intensive practice.
