Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, kırsal-bölgesel arkeoloji alanına katkı potansiyeli olan Bozburun Yarımadası'nda Karya Khersonesosu /Rodos Perası , olasılıkla Geç Klasik-Erken Hellenistik Dönem'den itibaren ve ardı sıra özellikle Rodos hâkimiyetine rastlayan süreçte gelişimini tamamlayıp olgunluğa eriştiği düşünülen demosların başta Tymnos, Thysannos, Hygassos, Phoinix olmak üzere örgütlenme biçimini, savunma sistemi bağlamında yorumlamaktır.2009-2012 yılları arasında, havadan arkeoloji uygulamalarıyla eş zamanlı yürütülen genel arazi taraması sonucunda belgelenen ve GIS çalışmalarıyla ele alınan tahkimli alanların, yönetsel Akropoller ve askeri açıdan tamamıyla savunma amaçlı iki tipte tasarlandığı, bunların sırasıyla, demos merkezleri ve territoryumlarında belirleyici olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Bununla beraber, her iki tip tahkimli düzenin de yer yer Karya mimari öğe ve tekniklerini yansıtması, bu kalelerin erken dönemlerden itibaren kullanılmış olduğuna dair izler taşıdığını göstermektedir.

TWO MODELS OF FORTRESSES/FORTRESS SETTLEMENTS IN THE CAR CHERSONESOS

Öz

The objective of this paper is to interpret, within the context of the defensive network, the manner of organization of the demoi Tymnos, Thysannos, Hygassos, Phoinix, being in the first place , which are deemed to have completed their development process possibly beginning from the Late Classical-Early Hellenistic periods and attained maturi¬ ty in the course of the Rhodian suzerainty, in the Bozburun Peninsula which has a potential to contribute to the ield of rural-regional archaeology. It was observed that the fortiied areas, which were documented through the extensive surveys that were simultane¬ ously carried out with aerial archaeology applications and discussed with the help of GIS studies in 2009-2012, were designed as two types- in the administrative Acropolises and military aspect entirely as defense oriented and were determinant, respectively, on the demoi centers and territoriums. Notwithstanding, that both of the fortified patterns reveal the typical Carian architectural features and techniques have overtones that they could have been occupied in the earlier periods.
