Veriler SPSS
25 ile analiz edilmiş, normal dağılım Kolmogorov–Smirnov testi ile incelenmiştir. Gruplar arası karşılaştırmalar One-Way ANOVA ve
gerekmektedir

Aim: Obesity is a global public health problem with various negative effects on balance, physical activity, and body awareness in young
adults. This study aims to investigate the relationship between body awareness, physical activity level, and balance parameters according
to body mass index (BMI) groups.
Material and Methods: The study included 92 volunteer cases aged 18-40 years. Cases were divided into three groups: normal weight,
overweight, and obesity, based on their BMI. The Body Awareness Questionnaire was used for body awareness, the International Physical
Activity Questionnaire Short Form was used for physical activity level, and the Y Balance Test and the Single Leg Stance Test were used
for balance assessment. The data were analyzed using SPSS 25, and the normal distribution was examined using the Kolmogorov
Smirnov test. Intergroup comparisons were evaluated using One-Way ANOVA and Tukey-HSD, categorical data were evaluated using
the chi-square test, and relationships were evaluated using Pearson correlation analysis (p<0.05).
Results: Body awareness and physical activity scores showed no significant difference between the groups. However, statistically
significant lower performance was observed in the obesity group in the Y Balance Test overall scores and in the standing on one leg with
eyes open test (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Obesity may negatively affect balance in young adults. Although the lowest body awareness scores were observed in the
obesity group, no significant difference was found between the groups. Therefore, further studies with larger sample groups and different
assessment methods are needed to clarify the relationship between body awareness and obesity.
