Tip 1 Diyabetli Adölesanlarda Akıllı Telefon Bağımlılığı İle Diyabet Öz-Yönetimi Arasındaki İlişki

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma, tip 1 diyabetli ergenlerde akıllı telefon bağımlılığı ile diyabet öz-yönetimi arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemeyi amaçlamıştır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu araştırma kesitsel, tanımlayıcı ve korelasyonel bir tasarım kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Türkiye’de tip 1 diyabet tanısı almış 6–18 yaş aralığındaki 253 adölesan oluşturmuştur. Katılımcılar çevrim içi diyabet eğitim grupları ve sosyal medya platformları aracılığıyla araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi (geriye doğru eleme yöntemi) kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Akıllı telefon bağımlılığı ölçeği toplam puanındaki 1 birimlik artışın, algılanan diyabet öz-yönetimi düzeyinde 3,550 birimlik azalış ile ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur (p < 0.001). HbA1c düzeyindeki 1 birimlik artışın algılanan diyabet öz-yönetiminde 0,165 birimlik azalışla ilişkili olduğu saptanmıştır (p = 0.031). Son bir ayda yaşanan hipoglisemi sayısındaki 1 birimlik artışın algılanan diyabet özyönetimi düzeyinde 0,970 birimlik azalışa yol açtığı belirlenmiştir (p = 0.040). Benzer şekilde, son bir ayda yaşanan hiperglisemi sayısındaki 1 birimlik artışın algılanan diyabet öz-yönetimi düzeyinde 0,168 birimlik azalışla ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur (p < 0.001).Sonuç: Akıllı telefon bağımlılığı ile algılanan diyabet öz-yönetimi arasında negatif yönlü bir ilişki saptanmıştır. HbA1c düzeyi, hipoglisemi ve hiperglisemi epizodlarının sıklığındaki artışın algılanan diyabet öz-yönetim düzeyindeki azalmayla anlamlı olarak ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Sağlık profesyonellerinin, tip 1 diyabetli adölesanlarda etkili öz-yönetim müdahalelerini desteklemek amacıyla akıllı telefon bağımlılığını ve glisemik kontrol göstergelerini rutin olarak değerlendirmeleri önerilmektedir.

The Relationship Between Smartphone Addiction and Diabetes Self-Management In Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes

Öz

Aim: This study aimed to examine the relationship between smartphone addiction and diabetes self-management in adolescents with type 1 diabetes.Material and Methods: This study was conducted using a cross-sectional descriptive and correlational design. The sample consisted of 253 children and adolescents aged 6–18 years diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in Türkiye. Participants were recruited through online diabetes education groups and social media platforms. Multiple linear regression analysis (backward elimination method) was used to analyze the data.Results: An increase of 1 unit in the smartphone addiction scale total score is associated with a decrease of 3.550 units in the participant’s perceived diabetes self-management level (p < 0.001). An increase of 1 unit in HbA1c level is associated with a decrease of 0.165 units in the participant’s perceived diabetes self-management level (p = 0.031). An increase of 1 unit in the number of hypoglycemic episodes in the last month is associated with a decrease of 0.970 units in the perceived diabetes self-management level (p = 0.049). An increase of 1 unit in the number of hyperglycemic episodes in the last month is associated with a decrease of 0.168 units in the participant’s perceived diabetes self-management level (p < 0.001).Conclusion: Smartphone addiction was negatively associated with perceived diabetes self-management. Higher HbA1c levels and more frequent hypo- and hyperglycemic episodes were also significantly related to poorer self-management. Healthcare professionals should routinely assess smartphone addiction and glycemic control indicators in adolescents with type 1 diabetes to support effective selfmanagement interventions.
