KADINLARIN GÜNEŞİ “MİHRÜNNİS”: NURCİHAN’IN EKONOMİK VE POLİTİK FAALİYETLERİ

Öz

Babürlü İmparatorluğu’nun kurulduğu Hindistan topraklarında birçok kültür iç içe geçmiş vaziyetteydi. Bu kültürel çeşitlilik beraberinde farklı alanlarda kendisini gösteriyordu. Bunlardan en önemlilerinden biri de kadının sosyal yaşam içerisindeki konumu ile ilgiliydi. Babürlüler bu hususta gerek hâkimiyet sahaları içerisinde bulunan yerel kültürler gerekse çağdaşı devletler arasında ayrı bir konuma sahipti. Babürlü kadınları birçok alanda kendilerini geliştirmelerinin yanında elde etmiş oldukları bu ayrıcalıkları kullanmak konusunda da geri durmamışlardı. Yönetim, sanat, edebiyat gibi alanlarda varlıklarını hissettiren saray kadınları ticari anlamda da oldukça aktif bir rol oynuyorlardı. 16. yüzyıl ve 17. yüzyılda Hint kıtasına gelen Portekizliler ve İngilizlerle ticari ilişkiler kuran ve hatta bazılarının küçük çaplı ticari gemi filolarına sahip olduğu Babürlü saray kadınları, dönemin kadın algısının çok ötesinde faaliyetler gerçekleştiriyorlardı. Bu nedenle Babürlü saray kadınları bugüne dek uzanan kadın hakları ve kadınların sosyal yaşamda edindikleri konum sorunlarını, içerisinde bulundukları dönemde geride bırakmış olmalarıyla kadının tarih içerisindeki rolünde önemli bir paya sahiplerdir. Bu çalışma temel olarak Nurcihan ekseninde Babürlü İmparatorluğu’nda saray kadınlarının ekonomik ve politik faaliyetlerine odaklanarak, kadınların etkin konumları ve kendini gerçekleştirmesi sürecine ışık tutmaya çalışacaktır.
