Politik Kavramların Edebiyat Üzerinden Terimleşmesi

Öz

Bu çalışma, edebiyatın politik kavramların oluşumuna yaptığı katkıyı incelemektedir. Politik kavramların yalnızca felsefi metinlerden değil, aynı zamanda edebi ve mitolojik figürlerden doğduğu savunulmaktadır. Çalışmada nitel içerik analizi yöntemi benimsenmiş, Machiavelli’nin Prens’inden Orwell’in 1984 ve Hayvan Çiftliği’ne, Camus’nün Veba ve Sisifos Söyleni’nden Goethe’nin Faust’una kadar geniş bir örneklem değerlendirilmiştir. Her bir figür, kökeni, edebi bağlamı, politik yansıması, sembolik anlamı ve terimleşme süreci açısından incelenmiştir. Bulgular, edebiyatın soyut politik düşünceleri somut ve kalıcı imgeler aracılığıyla sembolleştirdiğini ortaya koymaktadır. “Machiavellizm”, “Orwellian”, “Donkişotluk”, “Faustvari anlaşma” gibi kavramlar, edebiyatın ürettiği karakter ve alegoriler aracılığıyla toplumsal hafızada yer etmiş, akademik ve politik söylemlerde kalıcı hale gelmiştir. Çalışma, edebiyatın politik düşünceye yalnızca estetik bir katkı sağlamadığını; aynı zamanda kavramsal üretimin temel kaynaklarından biri olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca, edebi figürlerin ideolojik işlevleri vurgulanmış; örneğin Jakobenliğin hem devrimci saflığı hem de şiddeti temsil eden ikili doğası ortaya konmuştur. Günümüzde dijital çağda bile Orwell’in kavramlarının gözetim toplumunu tanımlamada kullanılması, edebi metaforların güncelliğini koruduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak edebiyat, siyasetin soyut dünyasını kültürel olarak kalıcı imgelerle besleyen güçlü bir kavramsal kaynak olarak değerlendirilmektedir.

The Terminologization of Political Concepts Through Literature

Öz

This study investigates the contribution of literature to the formation of political concepts. It argues that political concepts are not solely products of philosophical or scientific discourse but also emerge from literary and mythological figures. Employing qualitative content analysis, the research examines a wide corpus including Machiavelli’s The Prince, Orwell’s 1984 and Animal Farm, Camus’s The Plague and The Myth of Sisyphus, and Goethe’s Faust. Each figure is analyzed through its origins, literary context, political implications, symbolic meaning, and process of conceptualization. The findings reveal that literature transforms abstract political ideas into concrete and enduring images, thereby enriching political language. Concepts such as “Machiavellianism,” “Orwellian,” “Don Quixotism,” and “Faustian bargain” have transcended their literary origins to become widely recognized metaphors in academic and political discourse. The study demonstrates that literature does not merely embellish politics with aesthetic expression but actively provides conceptual frameworks that shape political thought. Furthermore, the ideological functions of these concepts are emphasized; for instance, Jacobinism represents both revolutionary virtue and destructive violence. Even in the digital age, Orwellian terminology continues to describe surveillance societies, highlighting the ongoing relevance of literary metaphors. In conclusion, literature is presented as a vital source of conceptual production, capable of embedding abstract political categories into cultural memory through symbolic and narrative means.
