Modernization of women in Turkey is one of the most distressing stages of Turkish modernization. Unlike Halide Edib, who is regarded as the first Turkish feminist, recent writers developed their feminist sensitivity in an orientalist perspective substantially. In the context of this study, in which we plan to discuss the orientalist perspective that is striking about an important part of women writers, a list of 50 writers is created. It is seen that 20 out of 50 women writers got their high school education in foreign schools at Turkey. Hence, a reductionist and an elitist approach is conspicuous while women writers held women’s problems. In this context, a discussion and an evaluation concerning the orientalist approach of the works by women writers in Turkey and its reasons in this study.
