Grounded Theory A A Strategy Of Producing Concept And Theory

Öz

The subject of this paper is grounded theory that is based on a research strategy aims to produce theory by using data obtained from field studies. It aims to introduce this strategy to researchers who are studying on sociological sciences and fields and who want to produce newer perspectives as well as to discuss its capacity on producing theories. In the article, after preliminary information about the theory, its processes of data collecting and analyses in addition to methods of sampling are investigated. Grounded theory strategy follows a cyclical procedure. It starts with a few investigative questions. With these data analyzed, new questions are produced and sampling procedure starts over. This cycle continues until a framework has been reached. In the first place, the strategy is likely to result in concepts that have a relatively limited abstraction ability. However as the field studies based on grounded theory are repeated, producing concepts with higher level of abstraction ability and even newer theories seem possible.

BİR KAVRAM VE KURAM ÜRETME STRATEJİSİ OLARAK TEMELLENDİRİLMİŞ KURAM

Bu makalenin konusu araştırma sahasından elde edilen verilerden hareketle kuram üretme amacı taşıyan bir araştırma stratejisi olan temellendirilmiş kuramdır. Amacı, bu stratejiyi sosyoloji alanında çalışan ve yeni bakış açıları üretmek isteyen saha araştırmacılarına tanıtmak ve onun kuram üretme kapasitesini tartışmaktır. Makalede öncelikle temellendirilmiş kuram hakkında genel bilgiler verilmiş ardından çeşitli örneklerle temellendirilmiş kuramın veri toplama ve analiz aşamaları ile örneklem alma teknikleri incelenmiştir. Temellendirilmiş kuram stratejisinde döngüsel bir süreç izlenir. İşe birkaç araştırma sorusu ile başlanır. Elde edilen veriler analiz edildikten sonra yeni araştırma soruları üretilerek veri toplama aşamasına geri dönülür. Döngü teorik bir çerçeveye ulaşılıncaya kadar devam ettirilir. Bu strateji başlangıçta soyutlama düzeyi görece düşük kavramların üretilmesi ile sonuçlanacaktır. Ancak temellendirilmiş kuramın kullanıldığı saha araştırmaları tekrarlandıkça daha yüksek soyutlama düzeyine sahip kavramsal çerçevelerin geliştirilmesi hatta yeni teorilerin üretilebilmesi mümkün görünmektedir.
