In this study, two works written in different ages and geographies are compared: Garib-name written in the 14th century by Âşık Paşa and Words and Days written in 7th century B.C by Hesiodos. These works that appeal to different societies in different ages in terms of both geographical and time have a common point: focus on didacticism. In both works, authors tell representative stories, give advice to people in the society they live in so that people can be happy in both the actual world and the afterlife. In this study, Garib-name and Works and Days were examined by using the content analysis method which is of the document analysis techniques, and the basic motivations of works related to focus on didacticism were compared. These works which are about 2100 years apart both aim public education, giving advice to people. This study has been conducted to display which social needs and situations these two works addressed.
