Moral disengagement is one of the methods that individuals who exhibit immoral behaviours and therefore experience some negative emotions such as guilt and shame resort to get rid of such negative emotions through various mechanisms. In this study, moral disengagement levels of high school students were examined according to some variables. The study was conducted with 376 students in total, 226 girls and 150 boys, in the city center of Çorum and students participated in the research voluntarily. In addition to personal information questionnaire, "Moral Disengagement Scale", which was developed by Bandura et al. (1996) and adapted to Turkish by Yavuz-Birben and Bacanlı (2017), was used in the study. The data were analysed through IBM SPSS Statistics (v22) package program. Independent sample t-test, variance analysis and Post Hoc (LSD) tests were used in the analysis. Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the Moral Disengagement Scale (MDS) was calculated as .86 for this research. As a result of the study, it was found that the mean of the general score obtained from the moral disengagement scale was above the average (X̄ = 1.73). It was determined that the mean scores of moral disengagement of the sample group differed significantly according to the variables of gender, the family's response to a behaviour that is not approved by the society, the frequency of moral rules being emphasized in the family, and according to the way decisions are made about the person himself in the family. There was no significant difference in the mean scores of moral disengagement according to the variables of class level, mother and father educational status.
